DST64104 - Fashion Illustration

 20/04/26 Week 1 Fashion illustration

In this week for our first module is fashion illustration class which handled by Mr. Daniel. in this first session he give us a module brief of each task that we need to complete until the end of the semester. but our main focus on week 1 - week 3 are the Task 01. the task 01 is about Dry media - hatching

After the module brief Mr. Daniel told us to do some reserach about fashion auditorial pose and a japanesse couture/ fashion runway dress, after that we have to mix and match the poses and the outfit that we've choose with minimum 6 result for our task which need to completed by next week (week 2). Mr. Daniel also demonstrated us how to do it before we could do it clearly. and not that only Mr. Daniel teach us how to sketch the body like how to find the bust, hip line, waist line, bikini line, shoulder line, knee line, and some hatching. we're all impressed by Mr. Daniel's work , the line, the way he draw it was so smooth. He's also showed us his unfinished workas a example for us to how to do it.

After i got back home i immediately tried to draw the body and the outfit that i've already search in class eralier. the first tempt i didn't draw it perfectly, the line was so messy. but i try again a few times and i get the pose sketch that i want. although its not perfect and clean but im happy with what i got after a many tempts trying. (the bold one are the final before move into the actual A3 watercolor paper)

when i get my final outcome of trying in the basic paper, i tried to make it onA3 watercolor paper, it's stressfull at first because i fail at the first tempt but im still enjoying it. after iu got my final outcome from the A3 watercolor paper, then i mixed and match the outfit and the pose , so that now i have 9 sketch.

after finishing the first task then i start to work on the hatching and also the part of body construction reserach.

27/04/26 Week 2 fashion illustration

in this 2nd week i showed my work that i already make as a homework on the last week to Mr. Daniel. weel after he looked at my work ( i know its not a good sign) he ask me to choose which of the pose and the outfit that i liked, then he start to demonstrate again how to do it on a a3 basic paper. he make the pose and the outfit that i choose which it was so good when seeing him doing that. his drawing was so smooth, then he ask me to make it again like he did. i tried to trace in a new paper to construct again. the first try was good, but im not confident if i already tried the actual one, so i tried a few like 3 times to see the difference. after consulting again with Mr. Daniel , he told me to continue to the actual paper
( the A3 watercolor paper ) damn im so excited eventhough im scare also. when i got back home i tried to practice first to make the whole construction into the basic drawing paper a few tempt. then when i feel my drawing a bit clear i tried to make it in the actual paper. i started by the head first because it was the easiest part, then hair, the outfit ( only the sleeves ), and the hand (fingers). drawing the hands its the most hardest part for me, i. even tried to make the fingers only in other paper to make sure that i draw a good hands on the actual. after i finished drawing the fingers i want to start to make the dress, but i messed up when im lining the sleeves. after that i stop and decided to continue it later.

04/05/26 Week 3 fashion illustration
this week we continued working on our final drawing for task 01. sir daniel ask to see my drawing and he asked me to fullfil the drawing first without lining it with lazybrush. after consulting the task 01 we move on for the next additional task which is we started to mix and match the face, contour, eye, nose, ear , hair, and the neck first. we were asked to make 15 of it based on our research. he also demonstrated on how to mix and match it as a guide for us.
after we compile all of the 15 drawings, he choose 5 from 15 from the drawing and start to develop more.

11/05/26 Week 4 Fashion illustration
in this week we were asked by sir daniel to show our 5 develop drawing in the previous class, sir daniel choose 1 onr the best from it to take as our main construct. after that sir daniel told us to practise it for 30-40 time to build muscle memory. then after finishing it sir daniel asked us to take 3 paper to practise with timer which im so nervous because im afraid i couldn't finish it on time. but i can even its only 5 seconds, its not perfect at least all of us can still make it done by 5 seconds.
we also switched to eachother paper to learn other people's stroke.

after that muscle memory practise , we move on the next one which is the hand and the body, we have to make 15 again to mix and match from the research we have done. he told us to get it done by the next class which is the week 5.

18/05/26 Week 5 fashion illustration
in this week's class we continued our task which is the hand, and body construction. we showed our 15 drawing to sir daniel first and then he will choose one potential for us to continue practicing. we have to practice it until 40-50 times to build the muscle memory like the other week before. then he put the timer for us to practice, from 15 sec to 10 and so on until we couldn't finish it on time but we can actually even tho the drawing its far from word perfect.

he also brief us the next task which is the task 2, we have to search loudprint outfit, and he told us to make 4-5 the layout first and bring it by week 6.

this is 5 of the first layout for task 2

25/05/26 Week 6 fashion illustration
this week's class we had our first submission for task 01. before submitting i showed my wor first to sir daniel first and he gave me some corrections using lazy brush to make the line look neater and cleaner so i adjusted a few parts before the final submission.

after that we continued on our task 02. in the previous class we had already done the research part and this week we were asked to print our choosen image. from all the research i found, honestly i did not expect sir daniel would choose that one that i thought he would prefer another image. the i printed the image in a3 size and started transferring it onto thin a3 paper first as trial. this was to check and adjust the correct proportions and size before transferring onto final paper later.

03/06/26 Week 7 fashion illsutration ( Replacement class )
in this week replacement class we continuedworking on our drawing which we transferred our drawing into actual paper (a3 watercolor paper) and started refining the details. i showed my progress to Sir Daniel and he helped me add some details to complete it.
once the drawing was finalized, we start to draw it with watercolor. while we doing it Sir Daniel also brief our task 03 . for this task we have to create an artwork that included collage elements. we were asked to search images and references from magazines that could be used for our collage composition.

08/06/26 Week 8 fashion illustration
this week class we continued working on drawing our final task 2. i continue the drawing that i had before in the previous class and completing the overall drawing. while doing it i also ask Sir Daniel on how the progress going, he assisted some areas of my drawing and suggested some details like soft pastels, lazy
brush to help improve my final drawing.

15/06/26 Week 9 Fashion illustration

This week is the submission of task 02.

overall im satisfied with my work but Sir Daniel told me that this work can be added more than this.

After that Sir Daniel introduced us to task 03 (final task) which focuses on creating a fashion illustration using collage techniques. We were asked to start collecting references, including fashion poses and collage elements that could support our concept. i spent time researching different references and gathering ideas for the next stage of the project.

22/06/26 Week 10 Fashion illustration

In this week i showed Sir Daniel the references i had collected. At first he was not satisfied because my references did not have a clear theme. He suggested creating a stronger concept as he looks on my model pose i choose so i changed my idea like a mad queen theme that represents chaos. After reorganizing my references in canva including the collage elements and pose Sir Daniel approved the direction.

(This was my first time try to stack all of the references in canva)

Then transferred the pose onto the illustration board, experimented with placing some collage elements, and started painting the base skin tone.

(Sir Daniel demonstrated on how to trace the collage that i've already made in canva)

(Sir Daniel also demonstrated us on how to do the collage with pattern using normal paper or butter paper)

29/06/26 Week 11 Fashion illustration

This week i showed my progressfor task 03 to Sir Daniel. Before the consultation i had already started working on the hair. Sir Daniel reminded me to work on the hair carefully because it is one of the main focal points of the illustration. He also demonstrated how to improve the facial features using charcoal pencils which helped me understand the shading technique better.

Then after he helped me for the face of my work i continue working on the collage and try put some fabric into it , because Sir Daniel yold us there are a bunch of leftovers fabric that we can use and he wanted us to take 10% of it and put it on our work. which i take some of the black fabric from a blazer that i cut into small pieces and make a ruffle from it to make a movement on the dress.

At the end of the class he briefed us on the final task about Malaysian tapestry where we needed to develop one of our initial designs from Fashion Project 1.

06/07/26 Week 12 Fashion illustration
This week is the submission of task 03.
( i also add a sequins fabric on the last step)

Then after that i presented my proposal for the final task to Sir Daniel. i showed the initial design i selected from Fashion Project 1 along with my pose reference. Sir Daniel explained that the final illustration should use the completed final design instead of the initial sketch. And because of that i had to revise my work and redraw the design using three pose options that Sir Daniel helped me choose on pinterest.

13/07/26 Week 13 Fashion illustration

Sir Daniel was on leave this week so we continued working independently on task 04. i transferred the pose and final design onto the illustration board and started painting the base skin tone and the outfit.

This class was mainly focused on developing the illustration and making steady progress on the final artwork.

DST60604 - introduction to fashion design

23/09/25 This week I started my very first task for Semester 1, which is about exploring basic shirt details. At first, I thought shirts were just about collars and buttons, but after going through the lessons I realized there are so many small elements that make each shirt unique—like cuffs, plackets, different types of collars, and yokes.     The process began with collecting references and compiling images of different shirt details. I searched online and also looked at my own clothes to understand the construction. It was actually fun to notice details I never paid attention to before, like the way seams are stitched or how the placket is shaped. What I learned this week is that observation is very important in fashion design. Even something as “basic” as a shirt has so many design choices behind it. It made me appreciate everyday clothing more. Mistakes I faced were mostly about organizing the images and making sure I labeled each detail correctly, but I managed to fix it...

DST63504 - introduction to pattern drafting & garment making

24/09/25 this is the first week of the semester and create a blog for courses that i'm starting the degree on bachelor of fashion design technology. The first week of Introduction to Fashion Design was both overwhelming and exciting because we immediately jumped into the real foundations of garment making. Our main focus was understanding fabric terms and grain lines, which is something I had only heard of before but never studied in detail. We examined a piece of muslin and identified the selvage edges, the lengthwise grain (warp), the crosswise grain (weft), and the true bias at a 45 degree angle. By actually labeling the fabric and handling it in different directions, I could feel how each grain behaves the lengthwise grain is firm, the crosswise grain has a little more give, and the bias is the stretchiest. This hands-on activity really helped me understand why grainlines are critical when cutting patterns so that garments hang correctly. After that, we practiced basic stitchin...
