21/04/26 Week 1 Garment Draping
this is the first week of Garment draping class , handled by Ms. Melina. on the first day of class she introduced us about what is garment draping and how to do it. the first session we start taping the dummy with draping tape followed by her instructions and she reminded us about fold line, grain line lessons that we already been teach by the previous semester. Ms. Melina also demontstrated how to draping on the dummy using calico, and showed us a video about draping. it was so satisfying to watch the silhouette flowing and became a dress structure.

this time Ms. Melina ask us to find team mates, 1 dummy for 2 people which is im with my friend , Jocelyn. its not that hard because we enjoyed making it. in this first class Ms. Melina teach us how to measure and make the princess classic line. Ms. Melina demonstrate it slowly so that we could understand and measure in the correct way.
28/04/26 Week 2 Garment draping
in this week 2 Ms. Melina's class we continue working on the classic princess line. Ms. Melina demonstrated us step by step on how to do it. we still have to do it with our partner which im still with my friend, jocelyn.
after that we tried to make it ourself like Ms. Melina's instructions earlier. we tried to make it as clean as possible to recieved a clean classic princess line.
after that MS. Melina demonstrate how to trace it on mahjong paper for the final submission. well at frst saw its kinda hard but if im not trying to make it first i will not knowing how to make it for the submission.
05/05/26 Week 3 Garment draping
for this week we continued on the next part which is were gonna make a armhole pincess line. and of course ms melina show us first on how to do it step by step.
after hat ms melina demonstrated us on how to trace it on mahjong paper and how to cut it. which i think the armhole princess line is more easier to do than the classic princess line, it is so satisfying to drape it.
and for extra we had a field trip with the class and ms melina to a textile museum. it is exciting because we also can learn and get to know all kind of the textile and on how to make it.
there are also that caught my eye was the textile from sabah , which is my state for the final project evening gown. i looked carefuly on the textile and theres a step by step on how to do it also, which sabah's people do it by hand , that is so impressing. there are the traditional costume of the sabah people which is the rungus tribe, this is my subject matter for my fashion project 1. there are linangkit, kain pis, men and women traditional costume, and some of the mens head wear also.
after we completed exploring the textile museum , we walked from textile museum to next stop which the national malaysia bank museum. it is a very long walk and the weather was so hot , we were sweating along we get there.
after we arrive we explore about the malaysia bank museum, how to make the malaysia money. and theres also much kind of interactive activity that we can to in the museum which it is so fun to play.
after the visit from both museum we had a quick break before moving on to the next stopwhich is we went on a textile shops , ms melina also asked us to take a photo of the fabric to compare it in each stores. there is so much fabrics with different kind of textures from high to low one. for total we went to 5 stores.
12/05/26 Week 4 Garment draping
in this 4th week our lesson is draping, ms melina asked us to search a many kinds of draping examples that we have to make. and i choose my 3 intial design that Mr John and Sir Daniel have choosen before.

i attempt to try draping the bottom part which is the skirt.

this is the second attempt which i tried to make the cape of the dress.
19/05/26 Week 5 Garment draping
in this week we have presentation for our task 1 which is the armhole and classic princessline, we go one by one to meet ms melina for checking and measure our homework. although its not perfect but i tried to make it done before class, when ms melina remeasure it she told me it looked very very bad, and of course it's making me sad to hear, i always do the best for it but i know ms melina is upset to us, but i still take ms melina's feedback from my mistakes so that i didn't do the same in the next task. after that i have to remake the calico and the pattern on mahjong paper for armhole and princessline that ms melina has corrected. when waiting for the others to present, ms melina also ask us to continue exploring draping, which is for the task 2 also.
26/05/26 Week 6 Garment draping this week in garment draping class the students who had not presented yet continued their presentation with ms Melina. since i had already presented before, i continued working on task 02 which was the exploration process for garment draping.
i showed ms melina the technical drawing that i had completed during sir JR's class. after that i start to draping the upper part of the dress, especially the top section and discussed the progress with her during the class.
09/06/26 Week 8 Garment draping
this week class i continued working on the final pattern for my final project. my main focus was on developing the upper body pattern. throughout the class Ms Melina guided me through the pattern making process and give feedback to help improve the fit and construction details. i made some adjustments based on her guidance and continued refining the pattern step by step. by the end of the class i was able to complete the final upper body pattern that will be used for my final project. the session was mainly focused on pattern development and ensuring that the pattern was ready for the next stage of garment production.
16/06/26 Week 9 Garment draping
This week i started making the pattern for my mermaid dress. Ms. Melina asked me to look for mermaid dress pattern references on pinterest before starting the drafting process. After collecting a few references i drafted my pattern on mahjong paper. Once i finished Ms. Melina checked my pattern and helped me adjust some of the measurements to improve the fitting and shape.

At the same time i started cutting the calico fabric for the upper body test fit.
After sewing the first sample i showed it to Ms. Melina, and she corrected a few parts of the pattern to make the bodice fit better. i updated the pattern based on her feedback before continuing.

23/06/26 Week 10 Garment draping
This week i discussed the upper body draping with Ms. Melina before starting the process. She guided me and help to built it step by step while i draped the bodice on the mannequin.

( this is the final outcome of thedraping that Ms. Melina have made)
At the same time icut the calico fabric from the bodice down to the skirt to make a full test fit garment.
After completing the test fit i checked the overall silhouette and fitting.

(test fit on a my model from front , side, back)
Once i was satisfied with the result, I started cutting the actual fabric using the corrected pattern. and start to sew some part of the pattern first.

(draping many times before sewing it)
30/06/26 Week 11 Garment draping
This week i continued making the outer dress using mesh fabric. Before attaching everything i asked Ms. Melina for her opinion about the design and placement of the mesh. She liked the direction of my design and encouraged me to continue. After sewing the mesh pieces i placed the garment on the dummy to see how the layers looked when stacked together.

(tried on my model too , to see on how it looks when she walk)
This helped me understand the overall volume and movement of the dress before moving on to the next stage.
06/07/26 Week 12 Garment draping
This week i continued sewing the final base dress.

(the finished base garment)
Most of the garment was completed but i noticed that some parts of the upper body draping were not symmetrical. Because of that i had to unpick and sew several sections again until both sides looked balanced.
before
after (including the net to make it not loose when my model try it)
After fixing the draping, i finally completed the base dress. also added another fabric panel to the centre front of the skirt because i planned to attach my lasercut pieces there later. This additional panel helped create a better foundation for the decorative details.
13/07/26 Week 13 Garment draping
This week i continued attaching the mesh to my dress. i hand stitched the mesh onto the garment because i wanted the stitches to stay hidden. This process was quite challenging because the fabric became heavier as more layers were added. i had to stop and redo several sections because i was not satisfied with the placement and stitching. After everything was attached properly i hand stitched the mesh a second time to make it more secure and durable. Although it took a long time i was happy that the outer dress was finally completed.
